Before I go into a description of dinner from last night, I would first like to state that my company has decided to "walk the walk". We put in wellness programs for clients, and yet we don't even have one. My boss has therefore challenged us to take charge. Today, we were given pedometers and had our body fat calculated, and starting Friday we have a contest beginning. Whomever has the most steps or has the largest decrease in % of body fat, wins an iphone.
Why am I telling you this? Because I have until Friday to eat my bodyweight before I go into healthmode for 4 months. Mama wants an iphone or at the least the second prize of a spa gift certificat.
Anyway...
Last night I went to Bijoux for restaurant week with Kerry and Elizabeth. We got there at 8:30, and you could see people lining up down the hallway. They were booked solid. We waited until 9 and were finally sat. I think all of us were starving. I had luckily had a yogurt at 6, but that was 3 hours ealier.
Finally, one of the servers came over and took our order. Still, I don't think we got our first dish, which was a tiny amuse bouche (sp) until 10 minutes later. It was a small slice of cucumber with a little goat cheese and watermelon. It was nice and light. About 15 minutes later, came my appetizer. It was a melon carpacio. Pretty much melon slices with a sprinkling of crab and micro greens. It was very tasty and light.
I choose that because for my main course I had the New York Strip. It was tasty. I devoured that. It was enough for me, but might have been too small a portion for most guys I know who like steak. It was nicely sliced up and served on some mashed potatoes with a couple of carrots.
Then a nice sorbet course. I was surprised when they served that. I would have thought that would have come between appetizer and main course, but I'm not up on my classy meals stuff lately. I just thought a palate cleanser would be earlier in the meal. Anyway, it was a nice bluebery sorbet. I love blueberrys!
Then came dessert. Decadent chocolate mouse with a drizzle of passion fruit. I love passion fruit and chocolate. I'm not a huge chocolate fan, but I think the combination of those two is just heavenly.
Very tasty meal, but by the time we got through all the courses, it was 11. It took them that long to serve us. I think that was a bit much.
I did the wine pairings and they were a wee bit chinzy with the pours. The only decent one was my port at the end, which was ok. I guess that was because it was towards the end of the night.
Overall good meal, but I think they just were not prepared for the crowd.

We did Craft last night. Had a reservation for 8:30 and got out about 10:30. Long meal but we ordered a bottle of way too expensive wine and had 4 courses worth of food.
Short story is that is was excellent. Service was fantastic. Food was really good but I'd hesitate to call it great. Dessert was a little underwhelming and some of the dishes were a bit salty. Overall it was still really good and there was more than enough food for the money.
Overall a 4 out of 5. Recommended.
